Tour of DataChat
In this section, we'll cover how to get oriented with DataChat's homepage.
Navigate the Homepage
DataChat's homepage has four main components:
Search bar. Search or filter for any DataChat object – session, recipe, Insights Board, snapshot, database, folder, or file.
Ava (beta). Open a new Ava conversation.
New button. From here you can:
- Create a session.
- Create a database connection.
- Create a dataset.
- Create an Insights Board.
- Create a folder.
- Upload files.
Recent objects. View your recently visited objects.
Sidebar. Choose a collection of your DataChat objects.
DataChat Objects
DataChat objects are artifacts that exist outside of sessions. This include recipes, Insights Boards, datasets, snapshots, databases, and files. These objects can be shared, renamed, hidden, and deleted.
Share a DataChat Object
There are two ways to share DataChat objects.
- The Share button within each homepage sidebar section.
- The
Share
skill from within a session.
From the Homepage
From the homepage, you can use the Share button to share an object with other users.
Select the specific DataChat object to share.
Click the Share button.
Select the users with whom to share.
Select whether they have "Viewer" or "Editor" permissions.
Click Save.
For shared recipes, you and the receiver can work on the recipe together in real time.
Using the Share Skill
From the GEL input field within a session, you can use the Share
skill to send files to other users. Enter Share the file <name> with <user>
and select or enter their email address.
Rename a DataChat Object
Select the object to rename.
Click the Rename button from the toolbar or from the right-click menu.
Enter the new name.
Click Submit.
Hide a DataChat Object
To hide a DataChat object:
Select the object to hide.
Click the Hide button from the toolbar or from the right-click menu.
To unhide an object:
Click the Show Hidden button.
Select the object to unhide.
Click the Unhide button from the toolbar or from the right-click menu.
Delete a DataChat Object
Select the object to delete.
Click the Delete button from the toolbar or from the right-click menu.
Click Confirm.
Deleting a shared DataChat object also deletes it for any users it's shared with.
Folders
Folders group sessions and saved objects together so you can better navigate and organize your work. You can find your folders on the homepage in My Work.
Create a Folder
To create a new folder, click New > Folder from the homepage.
The Create New Folder form opens. Enter a name for the new folder and click Submit.
Move Objects into Folders
To move a saved object to another folder:
Select the object to move.
Click the Move button from the toolbar or from the right-click menu.
Select the folder to move the object to.
Click Move.
